Filmartist began out of our love of art. In 2015, we started making films in Toronto about our artistic friends and artists we admired. We wanted to show what’s behind each artist’s work. Our films helped show people who they were, and get noticed.
We fell in love with the challenge of creating films that showed our experience of the art and artists we love. And with the positive reception of these videos, we began to realize video’s amazing power to draw people to art.
We stumbled onto the fact that there was a lack of marketing services for artists. Traditional marketers wouldn’t understand that an artist requires a different approach, and that it takes time to understand an artistic vision. The other thing we noticed was that artists would have to go to different suppliers for print, web, video and photography. This resulted in an uneven patchwork of marketing assets. And it could be tremendously expensive!
